Digital and interactive invitations
What these are, how guests receive them, and how they differ from a card or a video.
- How does a digital wedding invitation work?
- A digital wedding invitation is a web page at its own link, which you send to guests instead of posting a card. They tap the link, it opens in whatever browser their phone already has, and they see your invitation — names, dates, venues, photographs, directions — and can RSVP on the same page. There is no app to install, no account to create, and no file to download.
- What is an interactive wedding invitation?
- An interactive invitation is one that responds to the guest rather than simply playing at them. Instead of watching an animation, the guest does something — scratches a gold foil panel, breaks a wax seal, lights a diya, waters a plant, parts a pair of curtains — and your details are revealed in response to that gesture. It is the difference between being shown a card and opening one, and it is why people tend to open these more than once and pass them on.
- How is this different from an animated invitation video?
- A video plays the same way every time and ends; an interactive invitation waits for the guest and then responds. Practically, a video is a file your guests download and scroll past, while an interactive invitation is a permanent link — so if a venue or a timing changes, the link updates and everyone who opens it sees the correct details. Videos also can't take an RSVP.
- Can I send a wedding invitation through WhatsApp?
- Yes — that is how most of these are sent. You share one link in a WhatsApp chat or broadcast, and it expands into a preview card with your design and your names. Guests tap it and the invitation opens straight in WhatsApp's browser. The same link works on Instagram, over email, on a printed card as a QR code, or read aloud over the phone.
- Can guests RSVP through a digital invitation?
- Yes. Guests RSVP in two taps on the invitation itself — no app, no login, no separate form to chase. You receive an organised list of who is coming and how many people they are bringing, which is generally the whole reason couples move away from paper.
- Do guests need an app or an account to open it?
- No. The invitation is an ordinary web page, so any phone, tablet or computer with a browser can open it — including older phones and relatives who are not comfortable installing things. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is signed up for.
- Are digital wedding invitations acceptable for Indian weddings?
- They are now completely ordinary, and most couples use both. The common pattern is a printed card for elders and close family, and a digital invitation as the link that actually gets shared — in family WhatsApp groups, with friends abroad, and printed as a QR code on the physical card so the two work together rather than competing.
Save the dates
Timing, wording and what belongs on one.
- When should save the dates be sent?
- Six to eight months before the wedding for most weddings, and eight to twelve months if guests are travelling internationally or the wedding falls in a peak season when flights and hotels sell out. The purpose is to reach people while they can still take leave and book travel — the full invitation follows later with the actual details.
- What should a save the date include?
- Both your names, the date, and the city — that is genuinely all that is required. A save the date is an announcement, not an invitation: it should not carry timings, dress codes, or a guest list, and it should not ask for an RSVP. Adding "invitation to follow" is enough to set the expectation.
- What is a digital save the date?
- A digital save the date is a single web page, at its own link, holding one announcement: your names, your date, your city. Ours are built as one interactive moment — the guest scratches, opens, lifts or lights something, and the date is revealed — so it takes about ten seconds to experience and tends to be remembered and forwarded.
- Is a save the date the same as an invitation?
- No. A save the date asks people to hold the day; the invitation, sent later, gives them everything they need to attend — ceremony timings, venues, dress code, travel and the RSVP. Everyone who receives a save the date must also receive an invitation.
Working with the studio
How a commission actually runs, from first message to live link.
- How do I get an invitation made?
- Message the studio on Instagram with the design you like and your wedding date. We reply with pricing and what we need from you, you send your details and photographs, and we design, build and publish your invitation — usually ready for review within three to five days. There is no signup, no self-serve editor and no checkout: every invitation is made by the studio for one couple.
- Are these templates I customise myself?
- No — and that is the deliberate difference. What you see in the collection are finished designs we have built, shown live so you can experience them rather than imagine them. When you commission one we art-direct it around your wedding: your photographs, your colours, your ceremonies, your typography. The design is a starting point, not a form to fill in.
- What does an invitation link look like?
- Your invitation lives at its own address — something like yournames.shufflinginvites.com — which is what you share with guests. It is short enough to read aloud, works as a QR code on a printed card, and stays live before, during and after the wedding.
- Can the invitation be private?
- Yes. Any invitation can be password-protected, so only guests you give the password to can open it. Published couple pages are also excluded from search engines regardless, so your wedding does not turn up in someone's search results.
Your wedding website
The questions couples ask us most often once they have decided.
- How long does it take to get our wedding website?
- Most websites are ready for review within 3–5 days of receiving your details, and refinements usually take a day or two more. Planning a wedding on short notice? Tell us the date in your first message — rush deliveries are often possible.
- Can you customise everything about the design?
- Yes — every website is handcrafted per couple. Colours, typography, photographs, wording, ceremonies, sections, music, even the animations can be tailored. The designs you see in the collection are starting points, not fixed templates.
- Can we use our own photos?
- Absolutely — we encourage it. Your engagement shoot, childhood photos, family portraits: send them over Instagram or a drive link and we'll art-direct them into the design beautifully.
- Can we add our own music?
- Yes. Your invitation can open with any song that matters to you — a film song, your first-dance track, or something recorded by family. We handle the licensing-safe setup and the tasteful autoplay behaviour.
- Can we update details after the website is delivered?
- Of course. Venues shift, timings change — message us on Instagram and we'll update your live website, usually within a few hours.
- How is RSVP handled?
- Guests RSVP in two taps right on your website — no app, no login. You receive a neatly organised list of who's coming and how many guests they're bringing, so nobody has to chase confirmations on calls.
- How do guests access the website?
- Through one elegant link (like yournames.shufflinginvites.com) that works on any phone or computer — perfect for WhatsApp, Instagram, email, or a QR code on your printed card. You can also add a password if you'd like it private.
- How much does a wedding website cost?
